Finally, a Kids’ Streaming App That Doesn’t Make Parents Nervous

Screen time is one of those parenting topics that somehow makes everyone feel guilty, even though every parent knows it has its place. Sometimes that place is a long car ride, a restaurant meltdown, a sick day, an early morning wakeup or the 17 minutes you need to make dinner without someone asking for a snack while holding a snack.
The problem is not that kids watch shows (we have plenty memories watching HOURS as kids). The problem is that so much of kids’ content feels like a trap: too many ads, too much endless scrolling, questionable recommendations and the very real feeling that you have to keep checking what they are watching.
That is exactly why Mercury Kids caught our attention.
Mercury Kids is a safe, ad-free streaming platform created for kids ages 3–12. The idea is simple: kids get content they actually want to watch, and parents get more control over what comes into their home.
Instead of relying on open uploads or algorithm-driven recommendations, Mercury’s content is human-curated and organized by age and experience, including Little Kids, Family & All Ages, and Big Kids. For parents, that means less hovering, less panic, and less of the dreaded “what is this?” moment (like.... cars crushing toys or questionable videos in Chinese...).
Mercury includes a mix of educational and entertaining content across categories like science, music, animals, sports, cooking, creativity, family movies and more. One of the most practical features is offline viewing, which means you can download content for travel, flights, car rides, waiting rooms, or any moment when WiFi is unreliable and your child’s patience is also unavailable.
We are big believers in getting kids outside, moving their bodies, making things, reading books, and having real-life experiences... obviously, but then there is also reality.
Sometimes screen time happens. And when it does, it feels better to have something that is built for kids, chosen by humans, free of ads, and more aligned with what parents actually want.
