How We Made Our Bedroom Feel Like a Hotel

There are some home upgrades that make an immediate difference, and our Saatva mattress was definitely one of them. It's insanely comfortable — soft, plush and the kind of mattress that makes you want to get into bed absurdly early. I genuinely sleep like a baby on it, which is saying a lot considering I regularly have two actual children climbing into bed and kicking me throughout the night. Though thankfully, that happens a lot less now that we upgraded to a king.
If you have kids who mysteriously migrate into your room at 2 a.m., I cannot recommend going bigger enough. The extra space has made such a difference and the mattress somehow still feels supportive while being incredibly cozy.
We also went with a Saatva bed with built-in storage and the amount of storage underneath is kind of insane. In an apartment, hidden storage is basically gold. Extra bedding, seasonal things, random kid stuff you don’t want staring at you every day...
One of the things I really like about Saatva in general is that everything feels substantial and made to last. Nothing about the mattress or bed feels temporary or flimsy. These are pieces you can realistically imagine keeping for years and years and it's also free of the icky chemicals found in some many other brand's mattresses and ancillary products.
Speaking of moves, one word of warning: measure your elevator.
I, naturally, chose the gorgeous bed with the massive statement headboard without giving much thought to how it was actually going to make it into our apartment. It did not fit in the elevator and had to be carried all the way up the stairs. That said while I might not have chosen the giant headboard knowing the elevator issue, it "makes the room."
